Total travel is the full distance the actuator covers from its free, unactuated position until it finishes its travel at the released end. It encompasses the whole stroke: the initial pretravel before the switch changes state, the main actuation, and any overtravel beyond actuation up to the end point. In contrast, pretravel is only the portion before actuation begins, overtravel is extra motion after actuation, and movement differential isn’t a standard term here. So total travel best describes the entire journey of the actuator.
